چکیده

In recent years, projector technology has become ubiquitous in the consumer market. Because of this, we see widespread use of projectors in academic as well as home applications. However, projector technology does have a few limitations. Firstly, projectors have a very narrow depth of field, thus focusing a projector can become a laborious procedure. Furthermore, because a projector essentially upscales pixels without changing the resolution, even a perfectly focused projector will introduce aliasing artifacts into the projected image. Combined, these two factors make projectors less than desirable for quality sensitive applications. We propose an improved method based on a recent publication by Li Zhang and Shree Nayar[1] for removing aliasing from a projected image by defocusing the projector and estimating its defocus. We use optical flow as well as a variable illumination compensation technique to improve the speed of the iterative method introduced by Li Zhang et al.. . .

Defocus Blur Correcting Projector-Camera System

To use a projector anytime anywhere, a lot of projectorcamera based approaches have been proposed. In this paper, we focus on a focal correction technique, one of projector-camera based approaches, reduces an effect of defocus blur which occurs when a screen is located out of projector’s depth-of-field. We propose a novel method for estimating projector defocus blur on a planar screen without a...

Supplementary Materials for “Bayesian Time-of-Flight for Realtime Shape, Illumination and Albedo”

We submit a short video showing the robustness of our approach. In the video we show robust live (real-time) inference of depth, reflectance/albedo and illumination. We demonstrate the effective separation between illumination and reflectance by waving a powerful light projector and noting that the albedo and depth map stay invariant to the changing illumination conditions. The video was captur...

Depth Estimation Using Structured Light Flow - Analysis of Projected Pattern Flow on an Object's Surface

Shape reconstruction techniques using structured light have been widely researched and developed due to their robustness, high precision, and density. Because the techniques are based on decoding a pattern to find correspondences, it implicitly requires that the projected patterns be clearly captured by an image sensor, i.e., to avoid defocus and motion blur of the projected pattern. Although i...

Estimation of Projector Defocus Blur by Extracting Texture Rich Region in Projection Image

To use a projector anytime anywhere, a lot of projector-camera based approaches have been proposed. Focal correction technique, one of them, reduces the effect of defocus blur which occurs when a screen is located out of projector's depth-of-field. To achieve focal correction, we have to estimate the degree of defocus blur on the displayed images. Some previous methods use any special pattern i...

Multi Focus Structured Light for Recovering Scene Shape and Global Illumination

Illumination defocus and global illumination effects are major challenges for active illumination scene recovery algorithms. Illumination defocus limits the working volume of projector-camera systems and global illumination can induce large errors in shape estimates. In this paper, we develop an algorithm for scene recovery in the presence of both defocus and global light transport effects such...
